GSU Brief History
Global Science University (GSU) was established in 2014 as a higher education institution in Galkacyo, Puntland-Somalia. The university currently has four faculties; Faculty of Medicine (MBBS), Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Information Technology (IT), two campuses, one teaching hospital (GMC), and School of Postgarudate studies. Our Strategic Plan (SP) for the next five (5) years spans long-term vision (2023-2028: Transforming GSU Academically Excellent and Research-driven University. With this regard, GSU intends to renovate into a research-driven university with the long-term vision to become one of the leading research-driven universities in Somalia and the prime choice university in Somalia by 2033. The university is devoted to providing excellent academic programs to its students with top-quality education and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Generating Knowledge
We generate new ideas, develop technologies, and drive solutions through academic research, scholarly inquiry, and innovation. This involves faculty members, talented students, and research centers engaging in scientific investigation to advance and contribute to societal development. The process is supported by fostering funding, collaboration with institutions, accessing resources, and dissemination through publications, conferences, and partnerships with industry and government.
Bridging gaps
We connect theories with practice, research with real-world needs, and communities with shared goals. By fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and government, we translate knowledge into innovation and policy. We reduce social and economic disparities by providing access to education, promoting inclusion, and supporting underserved populations. Through outreach, community engagement, and global partnerships, we build bridges between cultures, disciplines, and sectors to address complex challenges and drive societal progress.
Developing talent
We provide high-quality education, foster critical thinking, and nurture creativity and innovation.
