Zainab A. Jama

Zainab A. Jama is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in community service, public health, and language interpretation. Since 2006, she has worked as a Somali and Arabic medical interpreter for various healthcare institutions, including Bay State Interpreter, Inc., Mass General Hospital, and the Cerebral Palsy Association of Eastern Massachusetts. Her work has focused on helping refugees and immigrant families access medical care, education, and social services through clear communication and compassionate support.
From 2011 to 2012, Zainab served as the Administrative Director and UNHCR Project Coordinator at Galkayo Medical Foundation in Somalia, where she managed staff, coordinated refugee health programs, and organized awareness campaigns on gender-based violence and women’s health. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management of Human Services from UMASS Boston and several leadership and interpreter training certificates. Throughout her career, Zainab has shown strong leadership, organizational, and advocacy skills, committed to improving the lives of refugees, immigrants, and underserved communities.
